What a business website does

What is a business website for?

A business website presents your company online: who you are, what you offer, where you work, and how to reach you. Unlike an online store, it doesn’t sell directly. Its job is to make you known and to get people to reach out: a call, a quote request, a visit.

It’s often the first contact a customer has with you. Someone searches for your line of work and their town on their phone, lands on your site, and forms an opinion in a few seconds. A clear, polished site reassures them; a slow or dated site, or one they can’t find, sends them to a competitor.

So a good business website works for you in three ways:

  • Getting found on Google by customers in your area, thanks to a structure and text designed for search.
  • Building trust, with services explained simply, photos of your work, your past projects, and your customers’ reviews.
  • Converting: on every page, visitors know how to call you, email you, or request a quote.

Want to sell your products online, with a cart and online payment? Then what you need is an online store (ecommerce website).

Who it’s for

A business website designed for your line of work

Every business has its own customers, with their own questions. Your site is built around what they’re really looking for, not around a one-size-fits-all template.

  • Independent professionals and consultants

Showcase your expertise, your approach, and your services. Prospects quickly see whether you’re the right person, and contact you directly.

  • Contractors and skilled trades

Show your projects in photos, spell out your specialties and your service area: you get more specific quote requests from customers in your area.

  • Licensed professionals

Whether you run a practice, a firm, or an office, present your areas of practice, your hours, directions, and how to get in touch, while following the communication rules of your profession.

  • Shops and restaurants

Opening hours, address, featured products or menu, news: the information your customers check on their phone before they head over, kept up to date and easy to find.

  • Nonprofits and associations

Present your mission and your activities, keep your members and the public informed, and make people want to join, take part, or support you.

  • What about your business?

Don’t see your industry on the list? Tell me about your business: together, we’ll work out what your site should highlight.

Good to know before you start

  • Your content

You provide your text, photos, and logo. I add them to the site, format them, and advise you so they’re clear for your visitors and well understood by Google.

  • What you own

Your content and your domain name belong to you. Ownership terms for the site itself (code, licenses for third-party themes and plugins) are specified in the quote. If you ever switch providers, I’ll hand over the access you need.

  • After the first year

Hosting and the domain name renew every year to keep your site online. The renewal rate is stated in the quote.

  • Maintenance, if you want it

Updates, security, backups, and small improvements: €50 excl. VAT per hour, or a €500 excl. VAT annual plan.

Starting prices excl. VAT. The final price depends on the number of pages, the features, and the content to add. Billed through Productions Associées asbl (VAT BE 0896.755.397), by bank transfer upon invoice.

Comparison

Custom-coded or WordPress: how do you choose?

Both plans give you a professional, mobile-friendly site built for Google. I recommend the custom-coded plan; WordPress is still a good alternative if your budget is tight or you want to edit everything yourself.

What affects the timeline

The timeline depends mostly on the features you need and on when your content is ready: text, photos, and logo. Preparing these in advance is the best way to go live quickly. The exact timeline for your project is given in the quote.

Missing some text or photos? That’s not a dealbreaker: we’ll talk about it during the discovery call and find a solution.

Getting your project ready

  • Your logo and colors, if you have them
  • A first draft of text for each of your services (I’ll help you make it clear)
  • Photos of your work, your team, or your premises
  • Two or three websites you like, to get a sense of your taste

FAQ

Common questions about business websites

Have another question? See the full FAQ or call +32 456 96 02 13.

How much does a business website cost?

A custom-coded business website starts at €1,599 excl. VAT. On WordPress, the more affordable alternative, it starts at €1,099 excl. VAT. These prices include building and launching the site, hosting and a domain name for the first year, plus training on how to use your site. The final price depends on the number of pages, the features, and the content to add: it’s set in a free quote, before you commit to anything.

How many pages does a business website have?

There’s no set number: the site is built around your business. A business website often includes a home page, one page per service, a page about your company, a contact page, and a legal notice. The number of pages affects the price: it’s specified in the quote.

Will I be able to update my business website myself?

With a custom-coded site, what you can edit is defined in the quote, based on your needs; other changes can be handed over to me (€50 excl. VAT per hour). With the WordPress plan, you edit your text and photos yourself, from the WordPress interface. Either way, training on how to use your site is included.

I already have a Facebook page. Do I need a business website?

A Facebook page is useful for staying in touch with your followers, but it belongs to the platform, which decides how it looks and who gets to see it. Your website, on the other hand, is built for you: you choose what to highlight, it presents your business in full, and it can show up on Google when a customer searches for your line of work in their area. The two work very well together: your Facebook page can send people to your website.

How long does it take to build a business website?

Typically, allow 2–3 weeks for a custom-coded business website and 1–2 weeks for a WordPress business website. The timeline depends on the features and on when your content (text, photos, logo) is ready; the exact timeline is given in the quote.

Will my business website show up on Google?

Every site is built so that Google can understand it well: heading structure, text, loading speed, and display on phones. For a local business, an up-to-date Google Business Profile is a useful complement to the site. Your ranking also depends on your content and on the competition in your industry: no one can honestly guarantee the top spot.
